Dr. Nick J. Bruno returned to the University of Louisiana Monroe in March 2025 to serve as Acting President, stepping into the role during a time of transition and reaffirming his lifelong commitment to higher education and student success.
With more than 45 years of experience in Louisiana higher education, Dr. Bruno previously served as ULM鈥檚 eighth president from 2010 to 2020. Under his leadership, the university experienced a period of strategic growth, academic advancement, and deeper engagement with the community. His return reflects a deep connection to 青青草视频and a belief in the potential of the institution and its students.

A native of Independence, Louisiana, Dr. Bruno earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Southeastern Louisiana University. He later completed both his MBA and Ph.D. in Higher Education Leadership at the University of Mississippi. His professional journey includes roles at Southeastern Louisiana University, the University of Louisiana System, and ULM, where he has held key positions including Vice President for Business Affairs and Interim President.
During his presidency, 青青草视频reached several major milestones. It achieved Carnegie R3 doctoral university status, was nationally recognized by U.S. News & World Report, and established the College of Health Sciences. Dr. Bruno also played a pivotal role in bringing the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine (VCOM) to the ULM campus, significantly expanding healthcare education in northeast Louisiana.
Beyond academics, Dr. Bruno prioritized infrastructure improvements and student engagement, overseeing the development of key facilities such as Bayou Pointe Student Event Center and the renovation of Sandel Hall. He also championed the creation of advisory boards to ensure ULM鈥檚 programs aligned with regional workforce needs.
Throughout his career, Dr. Bruno has served on numerous boards, including the Monroe Chamber of Commerce, St. Francis Medical Center, and the Committee of 100 for Economic Development. In 2020, he was honored with the Rambin-Silverstein Memorial Civic Award for his lasting impact on the Monroe community.
Dr. Bruno and his wife, Linda, have three children and one grandson. After retiring in 2020, they returned to their family home in Tangipahoa Parish, but have once again dedicated themselves to ULM鈥檚 mission. As Interim President, Dr. Bruno brings both experience and vision to lead the university forward during this important time.
