Rotation: Ambulatory Care

The pharmacist faculty member, Dr. Alexis E. Horace, provides services in Primary Medical Care, Gender Care, HIV Primary Care, and the newly formed Chronic Disease Management team. For the Chronic Disease Management team, she is a stakeholder and provides services for patients living with hypertension, asthma, and participants in community health fairs, and diabetes groups. Dr. Horace also provides services for the New Orleans Syringe Access program, where she provides education on the use of naloxone for opioid overdose reversal. Student pharmacists are engaged in all these activities as well as community outreach. They have opportunities to tailor the rotation to fit their career goals while also gaining valuable practice experience. Dr. Horace enjoys the positive impact that she has on her patients and in her community.
